Loaned by Arsenal

“Contact with FC Schalke 04 has never been broken. Returning to Gelsenkirchen is an absolute matter of the heart for me, ”said returnee Sead Kolasinac when he confirmed his loan from Arsenal to the Royal Blues. The reports from “Bild” and “WAZ”, which allegedly had information on the modalities of the agreement, show that these are not just common public relations words in football.

Consequently, the 27-year-old left-back gives up more than 50 percent of his annual gross salary of around € 9 million and will receive less than € 2 million at the end of the season. Also, contrary to what was previously assumed, no rental fee has to be paid for Kolasinac. Schalke again have no purchase option for this. Unless an agreement is reached beforehand, Kolasinac will definitely return to Arsenal in the summer. His contract in London runs until the summer of 2022.

Büskens: Kolasinac, returning to Schalke, had “many other options”

Schalke icon Mike Büskens, who recently served as interim assistant coach with Huub Stevens, was extremely pleased with the change. Büskens wrote on Instagram: “I can finally see madness personified again in the right shirt. In the past few weeks, we’ve all been inspired to bring Seo back to the Emscher. This guy is just amazing. Despite the difficult situation and many other possibilities, I wanted to go back and help. “

Early reports that Kolasinac took over as captaincy of his youth club (he joined Schalke U19 from VfB Stuttgart in 2011) are not true. Schalke doesn’t want to overload the hope-bearer too much, it is said.
