Several demonstrations related to the Corona rules are recorded in Stuttgart on New Year’s Eve. The police have to intervene partially.
Stuttgart – On New Year’s Eve, a lot happened in the center of Stuttgart despite the curfew. The reason for this was the right to demonstrate, which is not overridden by Corona rules in Baden-Württemberg. There have been several demonstrations against the policy of the crown. The first show started early in the evening, the last one is supposed to last until the new year.
An initial interim report by the police (at 11:45 pm) showed that some people had violated the requirements. An elevator of around 100 people that started at Karlsplatz was first stopped by the police near Charlottenplatz and finally dissolved by the leader of the meeting. “We point out to the participants that the minimum distances and the requirement to wear a mask must be respected. This was not fulfilled, ”explains police spokeswoman Monika Ackermann.
No special incidents yet
The dissolution caused disgust, as a reaction a spontaneous meeting with about 100 participants was also formed. The officers then checked the participants, who stated that they were exempt from wearing a mask with a medical certificate. “This was not the case for most of the participants. So we dissolved this meeting together with the city, ”says Ackermann. According to the police, the demonstrations at Wilhelmsplatz, Stammheim and Schauspielhaus passed without incident. Another rally at Karlsplatz was still taking place at midnight.
In addition to the protests, the evening has been quiet so far, as Ackermann emphasized: “Most people adhere to the rules in an exemplary way.”
