A young imam was killed in Ebersbach an der Fils. The 26-year-old went out for a walk with his wife, as the Ulm prosecutor and police announced on Wednesday. Two masked men approached him near an underpass. The two attacked the couple and beat the man. The 26-year-old suffered serious injuries. The unknown perpetrators fled.

Attempts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful, he said, he died at the crime scene “due to massive violence against the head.” His wife of 30 years suffered only minor injuries.

Police are searching for the perpetrators, but so far without success. Now a special commission has been created. The murdered man is said to have been a Pakistani who preached in a mosque in Stuttgart.

According to the investigators, there is still no precise indication of a motive. Authorities would investigate “in all directions” and continue to look for witnesses to investigate the crime.
