A 16-year-old at the wheel collided with another vehicle in Wuppertal and was thrown into a workshop with his car. The young man without a driver’s license and his 49-year-old passenger were unharmed early in the morning, police said. Based on initial findings, the driver was said to be traveling at high speed and lost control of his vehicle.

The 60-year-old man in the second car was injured in the accident in the dark and was taken to a hospital. As it was not initially clear if the building was in danger of collapsing, the 16 residents had to spend Christmas Day outside their apartments. A structural engineer verified the situation on site.

According to the Police, the accident caused material damage worth around 80,000 euros. The young man and the passenger are now awaiting criminal charges. As reported by the “WDR”, citing police, the 16-year-old was neither under the influence of drugs nor under the influence of alcohol.
