Clash on Christmas Eve
Three injured in an accident with an oncoming driver on the A66

Due to an oncoming driver, two cars collided on Autobahn 66 on Christmas Eve and three people were seriously injured. An 84-year-old man had driven in the wrong direction of travel on the highway for an inexplicable cause, as announced by police late at night.

The oldest collided with a car between the Wiesbaden motorway junction and the Diedenbergen exit (Main-Taunus-Kreis). The 84-year-old driver, as well as the 70-year-old driver in the other car and his 71-year-old co-pilot arrived at nearby hospitals with serious injuries.

The highway was blocked for about three hours in the direction of Frankfurt. The damage is around 35,000 euros. It was unclear at night where the oncoming driver hit the highway and how long he was on the highway, as a police spokeswoman said late at night.
