Another crown mutation in Britain
Just a few days ago, Britain reported evidence of a mutation in the corona virus. Many countries then cut ties with the country to prevent the spread. Now London reports another mutation. It probably came to Europe from South Africa, and it’s arguably even more contagious.
Two cases of a Crown mutant from South Africa have been discovered in Great Britain. The variant will be examined in the Porton Down lab, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said in London. According to the information, it is the mutant with the designation 501.V2. On Friday, South African Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said 501.V2 was circulating in his country.
The two infected people in Britain and their contacts had become isolated, Hancock said. In addition, immediate action was taken for entries from South Africa, no details were given.
“We are very concerned about this new variant because it will be transmitted even faster,” said the British minister. “It appears to have mutated even more than the new variant discovered in the UK.”
The number of infections in Britain had recently increased significantly. Hancock announced that from this Saturday (December 26) the crown measures will be significantly toughened in other areas of southern England. There are far-reaching travel and departure bans in place, as they have for a few days in London.
