SedanThe administration of the interior of Berlin, according to the health administration, has designated 54 areas of the city where it is prohibited to stay and use fireworks and other pyrotechnic objects for reasons of protection against infections on New Year’s Eve.
Interior Senator Andreas Geisel (SPD) says: “This year was not a normal year and it will not end normally either. We have to minimize the risk of infection whenever possible. Group shooting in the street carries considerable health risks. Hospital employees are already working to the limit. Therefore, my appeal to the people of Berlin: Stay home, welcome the New Year in a small group and give up fireworks and gunfire. ”
The interior senator said it would not be possible to prevent every illegal firecracker from firing one by expulsion. “The police will prepare accordingly and punish violations consistently.” The ban is based on the current infection control ordinance. Therefore, the infractions would constitute an administrative infraction with a fine, according to the internal administration. Exceptions are provided for certain officially approved or notified professional fireworks.
It is forbidden to stay and use fireworks and other pyrotechnic objects in the following streets, squares and green spaces. Crossing the named locations does not count as a stay. The stay ban does not apply in cases of emergency. In addition, the interior administration points out that a New Year’s Eve fireworks launch outside the prohibited areas is not a valid reason to leave your own apartment.
