The US agency for cyber and infrastructure security, Cisa, classifies the latest cyber attack on US government facilities as a “serious risk.” Cisa announced in a warning that removing the attacker from affected systems would be “highly complex and challenging.”

The attack, which began no later than March, was carried out by an “advanced, persistent” actor, security authorities said. The attackers had demonstrated “perseverance, operational security and complex skills.”

Russia rejects the accusations

Future US President Joe Biden expressed concern over the incident. The democratic politician announced that he would make cybersecurity the “top priority” at all levels of his government. To do this, it will crack down on attackers.

Last week, the US government confirmed a large-scale cyber attack, apparently lasting a month, against at least two institutions, including the Treasury Department, according to media reports. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo accused Russia of participating in the attack, but Moscow denied the allegations.
