The holiday home of Hamburg TV presenter Oliver Geissen on Hillgroven in Schleswig-Holstein has completely burned down. The fire was reported by a local resident on Sunday night around 8:30 p.m., as announced by the fire department. At that time, no one was in the thatched roof building. Nor was anyone injured during the operation.

Oliver Geissen’s management confirmed that the moderator and his family were not in the home at the time of the fire. The burger canceled all his appointments for this week. Hillgroven is located about 25 kilometers southeast of Sankt Peter-Ording, near the North Sea coast.

In the course of the extinguishing work, an excavator was also used to remove parts of the house. According to the fire department, the blazing fire on the thatched roof quickly turned into a blaze that suddenly spread to the entire roof area. An off-road vehicle parked at the house could be towed in time, so that the vehicle would remain intact.

A total of five volunteer fire brigades with a total of around 70 emergency services were at the scene of the fire for more than four hours. It is not yet clear why the fire broke out. According to the police, there was material damage of around 750,000 euros.
