The mayor appealed to the people of Hamburg to take the measures seriously and refrain from shopping on Mondays and Tuesdays if possible so that there is no “Black Friday situation”.

Compulsory schooling is suspended from Wednesday

Tschentscher announced the suspension of compulsory schooling in Hamburg on Wednesday. Schools and daycare centers remained open until the Christmas holidays, Tschentscher said. The Senate will make the corresponding decision during the day.

From Wednesday to January 10, only five people from two households can meet privately in Hamburg. Larger families can only celebrate together during the Christmas period from December 24-26. Tschentscher did not initially say how many people will be allowed to meet.
