Unusual picture Thursday night on ZDF: Instead of Maybrit Illner, Matthias Fornoff welcomed the political talk named after the presenter. The explanation for this was immediate.
Spectators who tuned in to the political talk “Maybrit Illner” on ZDF on Thursday evening, December 10, saw the Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, Malu Dreyer (SPD, connected by video), the Federal Minister of Economy Peter Altmaier (CDU ) and the Mayor of Tübingen, Boris Palmer (Greens), sit, who discussed how to proceed in light of the Corona crisis. But one thing was missing: the hostess herself.
Moderator Maybrit Illner was represented by her colleague Matthias Fornoff, because she was “sick in bed with a stupid infection,” as the “alternate moderator” is quoted on the official Twitter profile of the broadcast. Fornoff, who regularly moderates the “Politbarometer” and is the head of the editorial team for “Politics and Current Affairs” at ZDF, spontaneously replaced the 55-year-old.
“Get well soon from all of us”
At the beginning of the talk show, Fornoff stated that Illner’s absence did not hide an infection with the corona virus. The corresponding tests were negative. “Get well soon from all of us here,” said the journalist on Twitter.
Illner has welcomed his weekly talk show since 1999, until 2007 he was still running under the name “Berlin Mitte”. Between September 2010 and December 2012 Illner moderated the “heute-journal” occasionally with Claus Kleber and Marietta Slomka.
