Unlike the federal government, there is no new maximum for new infections in Hesse. And the other victims of Covid 19 also remain well below the unfortunate record values. In this regard, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) Thursdays for the centrally located federal state are not really good, but not that high compared to the whole of Germany. Because the number of new confirmed corona cases, as well as other deaths, are below Hessian’s share of the total population of eight percent. It was often different in the past. Hessen was disproportionately represented in both branches.

Regardless of this, the situation in Offenbach and in several districts remains very tense with a view to the new line of state government. Consequently, there is a risk of curfews and an all-day public ban on alcohol if a large city or district has more than 200 positive tests among 100,000 confirmed residents within a week for three days. With such incidence, the new level of black is applied in the concept of escalation of Hesse of the state. The city of Offenbach announced Wednesday that the curfew would go into effect Saturday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The Limburg-Weilburg district has already reacted and issued a curfew and a public ban on alcohol. According to the district administrator, Michael Köberle, it applies from Saturday to December 22. The health system is at the limit of the load. The western district of Hesse has an incidence of 223 by itself. Compared to the RKI data, the trend is increasing. The Groß-Gerau district also issues a general decree. There is a circular and night curfew. The Offenbach district has made a similar decision.

As the Robert Koch Institute reports, 1,340 new infections were discovered overnight in Hesse, or 5.6 percent of new cases in the federal government and 180 fewer than a week ago. The comparison with Wednesday this week is also good, as there are 320 fewer positive tests. In addition, the RKI has registered 23 more victims of Covid, eleven less than seven days ago and 26 less than the last time.

100,000 mark exceeded

As in recent days, the Hessian crown map is almost continuously red. Only the Werra-Meißner district glows pink with an incidence of less than 100. The city of Offenbach also has the highest incidence of the major cities and 21 rural districts, for which the RKI shows a value of 258.7. The neighboring Main-Kinzig district has 234.7 and is on the black level, while the Offenbach district has fallen below the 200 mark with a good 190. The Limburg-Weilburg district reaches 211 and is more Beyond the third day in a row the very critical mark. The Groß-Gerau district has been above him for two days with 207. The situation in the Fulda and Wetterau districts has improved somewhat.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the RKI in Hesse has recorded 100,900 confirmed infections and 1,601 corona deaths. By October 1, only a good 19,000 positive tests and 551 deaths were known. This shows the dynamics of the pandemic in late fall. 25,300 cases have not yet ended. Some 74,000 people are believed to have recovered from the infection. The RKI only estimates this number, it is not officially determined. Anyone who does not receive medical treatment after a good 14 days is considered to have recovered.

In light of this, Prime Minister Volker Bouffier set the new line on Corona policy on Tuesday. As of Friday, there will be a night curfew and prohibition of consuming alcohol throughout the day at critical points. Already during the weekend he thought aloud about possible exit restrictions in critical points with more than 200 confirmed cases in a week and less than 100,000 inhabitants and confirmed it on Monday. There could also be new requirements for New Years Eve, as you said. Details are pending.

As the Ministry of Social Affairs further explained with a view to the new rules, the country has introduced a new level of escalation: black. The black level applies to a “diffuse infection process” that is not limited to a limited and manageable outbreak focus. And: “If a region reaches the incidence of more than 200 and this continues for three days in a row, then, for example, a night curfew will be imposed for the time between 9 pm and 5 am During this time, only allows you to leave your own home for important reasons, such as professional or medical requirements, ”explained Secretary of State Anne Janz. The targets could not fall until the incidence fell below 200 for five consecutive days.

Janz’s explanation of the new requirements can be found here. The Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs publishes an overview of the development of the crown every day, broken down into districts and urban districts. Refers to RKI figures. In the first weeks of the pandemic, data from the Hessian state inspection and investigation office in the health system of the Gießen regional council were also taken into account, to which the health authorities must report new cases. To create consistency, the ministry now only uses information from RKI.

From Frankfurt’s point of view, the following is fundamentally important: positive tests taken at the airport are not assigned to the city. Rather, according to the Ministry of Social Affairs, they are reflected in the statistics of the health department, which is responsible for the respective returnee. This can also be the Frankfurt office or another in Hesse, but also an authority in another federal state.
