FC Bayern won their last group match in the Champions League 2-0 (0-0) against Lok Moscow, but had already qualified for the second round two days before the end of the preliminary round as the established winners of the Group A. The goals for the fifth victory in the sixth game were scored by Niklas Süle (minute 63) and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (80).

Defending champs Robert Lewandowski and David Alaba had a breather, they weren’t even on the team. Alphonso Davies started the first game after his ligament injury in October. Something strange: in addition to two goalkeepers, there were only three outfield players on the bench among the guests. There was no explanation for this, officially one player had tested positive, some others were injured.

Bayern focused on the possession game, Lok on deep defense and quick change. At first, he only got ahead on the left side of Munich with happy returnees Davies and Douglas Costa, whose crosses lacked precision. The passive behavior of the guests forced Leroy Sané and Leon Goretzka to shoot from afar to no avail.

It was an extremely quiet first half in which the first opportunity went to the guests: Aleksey Miranchuk was thrown through the middle, his shot from close range was blocked at the last moment (39). In a direct counterattack, Thomas Müller got a free kick in the area and the ball hit the side net.

The Russian runner-up retired further after the restart and was permanently in his own field with all the players. After a successful dribble and a low cross from Davies, Serge Gnabry came out twice. The first was blocked, the second passed the door on the left (56). Bayern received an unjustified corner kick, and this was not without consequences: Süle headed hard in the left corner after a cross from Costa to take the lead (63).

Substitute Nikita Iosifov had Moscow’s first and last chance in the second half. His title, after appearing free against Manuel Neuer as a result of a counterattack, was too weak (78º). Choupo-Moting decided the game with a hit in the short right corner after the work of Gnabry (80th).
