In search of Christmas gifts, many people went to the center of Bingen on Saturday. Some of them were terrified when two men drove through the pedestrian zone in their car, a few days after the riot with five dead in Trier.

Meanwhile, the police said they received information about the vehicle, the driver and the passenger.

After all witnesses could be heard, the 19-year-old driver and 22-year-old passenger are currently being investigated. Both came from a district of Bingen and made contradictory statements. All witnesses confirmed that the vehicle was not directed at people.

Fear of driving like crazy like in Trier

The driver had crossed the pedestrian zone and kept revving the engine. Fearing an act similar to the riot in Trier, numerous pedestrians jumped aside, scared, according to police. No one was injured.

Apparently the two men had made fun of it and laughed out loud. Then they fled. Then witnesses found the dark small car in a district of Bingen. The car has a Swiss registration. It is currently unclear why.
