320 million students worldwide have to stay at home

As schools closed in the wake of the corona pandemic, around 320 million children and young people around the world have had to stay home since December 1. This is reported by the children’s aid organization Unicef, citing Unesco data. This affects almost one in five school-age children worldwide. Children suffered the devastating effects on their learning, their physical and mental well-being and their safety, criticizes Unicef. For many children in the poorest countries, school meals are no longer available. The aid organization called on governments to keep schools open or to reopen them if possible. Many corona infections in VM: debate about possible hardening

Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) and Health Minister Harry Glawe (CDU) have announced that the cabinet will address the so-called hotspot strategy on Tuesday. It is the question of what happens if districts or even individual cities reach 100 or 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in a week. In this case, Glawe had not ruled out local exit restrictions. It is also considered unlikely that, given the increasing number of infections, the premature opening of massage practices and cosmetic studios will be allowed, as the government recently announced.
