Dresden – As early as next week, there will be a tough shutdown in Saxony, BILD learned from government circles on Monday night.

Stores are due to close on December 14 (this start date is under discussion). As in spring, only essential stores should remain open. It’s still unclear what exactly they are, other than grocery stores.

Alternate lessons are planned for schools. Daycare closures are being discussed, but a decision has yet to be made.

The full lockdown should last through Christmas and New Year’s Eve, at least until January 10. Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (45, CDU) announced tougher measures Monday morning. According to information from BILD, the federal government is planning a strict shutdown only after Christmas.

If you don’t have any Christmas gifts in Saxony, you should hurry if you don’t want to order online. Kretschmer also requested controls at the crossings into the Czech Republic; the federal police are responsible here.
