Evacuation in Corona conditions

“We have two doctors in the entrance area, upon arrival we measure fever and watch for cold symptoms,” said Armin Bender, volunteer disaster control officer for the German Red Cross. “If someone coughs or has a high fever, there is a rapid corona test.” People infected with Corona were housed in hotels or hospitals, Bender said. In the exhibition hall there is also a separate area for people who are in quarantine due to a return from abroad or as contact persons for an infected person. “This is not a good Advent Sunday for the people here,” Bender said. “But everyone is incredibly disciplined.”

People with reduced mobility were collected from their homes by emergency services after prior notification. Because this affects many people in the area, evacuating the danger zone took a little longer than initially planned. In addition, a protection zone was defined in the area adjacent to the evacuation zone. Residents here should not leave their homes after 8 a.m. and stay away from windows, glass doors, decks, and balconies. They should also keep windows and doors closed.

The mitigation also had an impact on local and regional transportation. As announced by the VGF, there were detours and partial failures on the S1, S2, S7, S8 and S9 lines of the S-Bahn. Regional trains RB10, RB12, RB15 and RE2, RE3, RE4, RE14 and RE70 were also affected.
