Drivers should be prepared for traffic obstructions in the Pforzheim and Bruchsal area at the weekend. The reason is the work on several bridges on the A8 and A5.

According to the Karlsruhe Regional Council, the A8 has been completely closed since 10pm on Saturday. The blockade should be lifted again on Sunday around 12 noon. For long-distance traffic, there are already detours on the A6 and A81 from the Walldorf interchange and the Leonberg triangle. Regional traffic in the Pforzheim / Karlsruhe area is routed on federal highways 10 and 294.

New construction replaces the old bridge

The reason for the total closure of the A8 in the area of the Pforzheim-North and East crossings is the work of bridges. As part of the six-lane expansion of the motorway, a new road bridge is being built connecting the Pforzheim district of Eutingen with Niefern-Öschelbronn via the A8. Due to the demolition of the old bridge, the A8 was already closed in July.

Defects due to bridge work also on the A5

Road users should also expect disabilities on the A5 near Bruchsal heading north. Due to construction on two freeway bridges, the left lane of the freeway is closed. The railway line between Bruchsal and Germersheim is also closed. There is a replacement rail service there. The two closures began Saturday morning at 7 a.m. and will last until Sunday midnight.
