The attorney general contradicted Trump. The Republican continues to claim that his Democratic challenger Joe Biden won the November 3 election due to massive fraud. Trump has not presented any reliable evidence. The incumbent president tries to challenge the election result with a wave of lawsuits. Biden will be sworn in as president on January 20.
Democrat Joe Biden won the Nov.3 election against Trump after a multi-state count thriller. However, the incumbent still refuses to acknowledge this victory and has filed various lawsuits against him without success. Cisa at the Department of Homeland Security, which is responsible for election security, had also stated that he had no evidence of voter fraud – in fact, it was the safest election in US history.
The justice minister is considered an important confidant of presidents, so his remarks are likely to hurt Trump particularly. Before the election, Barr, like Trump, suspected that the increased use of vote-by-mail in the Corona year could lead to electoral fraud.
A week after the election, Barr issued a directive to prosecutors allowing them to investigate “substantial allegations” of voter fraud. With this order, prosecutors were able to circumvent a directive from the Ministry of Justice, which in effect prohibits such a procedure before the official confirmation of the election results.
