US elections: Arizona also confirms Joe Biden’s victory, Donald Trump runs out of states

The remaining US president, Donald Trump, will run out of states in his fight to reverse the lost presidential election. After Georgia and Wisconsin, among others, have already confirmed Joe Biden’s victory, Biden remains the winner in Arizona as well.

Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs announced that Biden was approximately 10,500 ahead of Trump after the recount, and Conservative Gov. Doug Ducey signed the relevant documents following Hobbs’ certification. Eleven voters are available in Arizona.

Trump goes on to claim without any evidence that he lost the election only to massive forgeries. Trump’s campaign team did not provide any solid evidence for this. Election officials and experts firmly reject the accusations, the Trump camp has already failed with numerous lawsuits.

The Republican majority in the Senate is reduced

By confirming the election result, the majority of Republicans in the Senate will also shrink. With Democrat Mark Kelly defeating incumbent Senator Marthy McSally, Republicans now have 52 instead of 53 votes in the House of Congress. Because there was a special vote in Arizona, Kelly should be sworn in this week.

The remaining newly elected senators will not be sworn in until the new year. Whether Democrats or Republicans will have a majority in the Senate will not be decided until two runoff elections in Georgia on January 5. If the Democrats win both places in Georgia, there will be a deadlock. In this case, Vice President Kamala Harris, Democrat, has a casting vote.

Among other things, the Senate votes candidates for positions in the central government. This could limit Biden’s freedom of action as president if Republicans retain control of the House of Congress.

Biden has been preparing to take office for weeks. On Monday he appointed, among other things, former central bank chief Janet Yellen as future finance minister. It also announced its communications team, which is made up exclusively of women.
