Communication team: Biden relies on girl power

Joe Biden relies on experienced Obama-era women for his communications team: Jen Psaki will become the new White House spokesperson. At the same time, a violation of the president-elect of the United States causes a stir.

President-elect Joe Biden has announced the composition of his future communications team. High-ranking positions in the White House are held exclusively by women. Kate Bedingfield will become director of communications, Biden said. Bedingfield was already serving as vice president as its communications director in Biden’s time. This role deals with the entire communication strategy.

The government spokesperson is said to be Jen Psaki, who worked for the future president’s campaign. She was also the White House communications director and a spokesperson for the State Department under former President Barack Obama. Since the election, Psaki had held several briefings with Biden reporters. It was direct, clear and professional.

First exclusively female communication team

Karine Jean Pierre, formerly Vice President-elect Kamala Harris’ chief of staff, will become Vice President for Press. Pierre also served under Obama, at the time as a regional director in the office of political affairs at the seat of government. Pili Tobar, a top member of Biden’s campaign team, is said to be the White House deputy director of communications.

The top positions on future Vice President Harris’ communications team are also for women. It is the first time that the entire head of this area in the seat of government will be a woman. The personnel policy is intended to reflect the stated goal of a diverse workforce in the White House, which Biden already passed in the election campaign. Biden now said that the “qualified and experienced” candidates bring different approaches and a common will to move the country forward. The future communications team is expected to return to a more traditional collaboration with the capital’s press.

Inauguration in the support shoe?

Around the same time as Biden’s most recent personnel decisions, it emerged that the 78-year-old sprained his right ankle while playing with his German Shepherd and suffered minor stress fractures to his foot. So it can be assumed that Biden will have to wear a boot-like orthopedic support shoe for several weeks, his doctor explained. This makes it possible for Biden to still have to wear the support shoe during his planned ceremonial opening on January 20.

Meanwhile, current President Donald Trump continues to refuse to acknowledge Biden’s victory. He has been talking about “massive electoral fraud” for weeks, but has not produced any reliable evidence. The US courts have already thrown out numerous lawsuits aimed at challenging the election results and their Republican allies. However, after an original refusal, the Trump administration initiated the orderly and legally required handover (“transition”) a week ago. This Monday, for the first time, Biden and Harris were to receive the strictly confidential briefing of the secret services, which normally only reaches the White House. In addition, the head of the White House Crown task force, Deborah Birx, said in a television interview that she also hopes to speak with Biden on Monday.
