Stuttgart: The fire brigade extinguished a fire in a multi-storey residential building on Liststrasse in Stuttgart-Süd. As police said in a report, the fire broke out Saturday morning around 7:30 a.m. in an apartment in the home. According to police, a 42-year-old resident was awakened by the smell of burning and discovered flames in the area of the night storage heater in the next room.

The fire then spread to other floors of the home, police said. The fire department had to rescue nine people from the building using revolving ladders. A total of 30 people left the house unharmed. The man who discovered the fire was hospitalized on suspicion of smoke inhalation. Exactly how the fire broke out is currently being determined. According to the police, the damage cannot yet be quantified precisely, but it should amount to at least 200,000 euros. Three apartments are at least temporarily uninhabitable.
