States spent more than seven hours consulting with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) on Corona’s rules for December. Schleswig-Holstein does not want to implement all the resolutions of the federal-state conference.

Numerous points were in the draft resolution, which was processed step-by-step on the federal-state video circuit for hours Wednesday. The agreement was not reached until late at night. Schleswig-Holstein Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) supports the decision to extend the partial lockdown until December 20 due to high crown numbers. However, after the video exchange with the Chancellor, he announced that some adjustments will not be implemented in Schleswig-Holstein. It is true that it was possible “to achieve a common result. In some areas we will take other measures than we have just agreed. I made it very clear,” Günther said.

SH adheres to its own rules of contact

While contact restrictions in the other countries are tightened again, Günther wants to stick to his own contact restrictions for the country. According to the federal-state resolution, a maximum of five people from two households must meet in private meetings with friends, family and acquaintances. In Schleswig-Holstein, the limit is currently ten people, in public spaces of two homes and in private spaces of homes without restrictions. It should stay that way. “What is common practice is also observed during holidays in Schleswig-Holstein,” said Günther. In general, he criticizes the exception rule for vacations in the other 15 federal states. “Especially at Christmas, especially New Years Eve, it would be in everyone’s interest if everyone was left behind as well.” From December 23 until New Year’s Eve, gatherings of ten people from ten households plus children up to 14 years are allowed in the rest of the countries.

There are no new rules for retail

Günther also announced that the massage and nail studios, as well as the animal parks in Schleswig-Holstein, can reopen in early December, if hygiene concepts are available. Even with the stricter requirements for the retail sector, Schleswig-Holstein “will not accept,” the head of government said. Consequently, the default value of ten square meters of retail space per customer is maintained, regardless of the size of the store. The federal-state resolution provides for the commercial space to be expanded to 25 square meters per customer from 800 square meters.

Still no facilities for hotels and restaurants

The Christmas break should also end two days later than previously planned, on January 8. For hotels and restaurants, the Prime Minister has not yet been able to point out prospects for relaxation. He doesn’t expect this to happen until January at the earliest. They would have to be prepared for “they will remain closed beyond the turn of the year.” With hotels, he sees “no chance” for things to turn out differently. This is also due to the high number of infections in the other federal states.

Günther: “A special form of Schleswig-Holstein”

“I know this is a special Schleswig-Holstein route,” said Günther. The regulations have proven their worth. The country is one of only two federal states in which the incidence value of seven days is less than 50. “Our goal in Schleswig-Holstein is to open in January,” said the CDU politician. Then at the earliest this could also be the case in restaurants and hotels.

The heads of government of the federal states also agreed that there should be additional tightening if the incidence value in the regions exceeds 200.
