BVB vs. Club Brugge: individual ratings and reviews
On Tuesday night, Borussia Dortmund faced the duel with Club Brugge in the Champions League. As in the first leg, BVB celebrated a well-deserved 3-0 victory that was never in serious jeopardy. All BVB stakeholders in the individual review:
TOR: Roman Bürki – Note: 3.0
I spent a very quiet night outside the BVB. He did not have to intervene at all on the line, only defended himself from two sharp flanks after the break. However, when he came out, communication with the people in front was not always correct.
DEFENSE: Thomas Meunier (up to 72nd) – Grade: 2.5
He showed an enormous amount of running down the right flank and regularly leveraged the flank on good tracks to the top. Despite some good crosses, he didn’t want to do everything with the ball.
Mateu Morey (from 72.) – no rating
Looking for his part after being replaced. He wasn’t perfect right away from behind, but he did score some points on pressure.
Mats Hummels – Note: 2.0
With few exceptions, he moved very carefully in the defensive net and won several important duels in his own box. He proved a good timing when moving, recorded the victory of the ball before 1-0 (18th). In the opening of the game the last precision was occasionally lacking.
Manuel Akanji – Note: 2.5
From time to time he led his defensive colleagues into awkward situations through sleepy positional play at first. But it got better early on and then had a lot of good scenes in the last line.
Raphael Guerreiro (bis 81.) – Note: 3.0
Initially it provided a lot of momentum to the left. He often made the right decisions in the opponent’s penalty area and started some scenes in the last third. But he was unable to maintain the level for the entire duration of the game. He acted too stubborn and playful at times.
Felix Passlack (out of 81) – no rating
He fulfilled his defensive duties conscientiously, but was no longer challenged. Almost nothing went ahead.
MIDDLE FIELD: Thomas Delaney (up to 72) – Grade: 2.0
He often appeared in the center as a poisonous ball hunter. For the most part he showed good timing on pressure and recorded several wins. It increased playfully over time and collected various good deeds in the opposite half.
Emre Can (from 72.) – no rating
He maintained his aggressiveness in midfield despite the clear advantage. So he made sure BVB calmly brought the win over time and kept the defense tight.
Jude Bellingham – Note: 2.0
I had many good scenes in cooperation with his compatriot Sancho and I showed a very good panoramic in the last third. At first there was a bit of pressure on the ball in the middle, but in the second half the Englishman dominated the action in midfield and became the best man on the field.
Giovanni Reyna (bis 81.) – Note: 3.5
In the first minutes, he did not dose his passes optimally. Sometimes I took pressure off the attacks because my teammates took too long to process the ball. He held back over time and created some opportunities through his dribbling. But he never had the last luck in his actions.
Julian Brandt (out of 81) – no score
I wanted to solve everything in a playful way in the last minutes. But his ideas in the last third no longer worked.
Jadon Sancho – Note: 1.5
He left a very happy impression, always looking for the direct path to the goal. If he made it 1-0 (18th), he made it 2-0 with a dream free kick just before the break (45th). After the break he got bogged down in his actions, but he still played a very good game overall.
Thorgan Hazard – Score: 3.0
He was very busy on the offensive and constantly occupied different rooms. So he reliably placed himself in the best final positions. However, due to coordination problems with Haaland, he was regularly unable to take advantage of these opportunities.
ATTACK: Erling Haaland (up to 81st) – grade: 1.5
He was closely covered by the Brujas defense, but found his holes with good movements from the start. He missed the first pass, then led BVB in the middle of the first half with a strong goal up front (18th). Then he stayed on the trigger and added the second goal after the break (60th).
Marco Reus (from 81) – no rating
He took the position in the storm center in the last minute. He started some deep runs, but the deadly passes never caught up with him.
