Thanks to goal machine Erling Haaland and shooter Jadon Sancho, Borussia Dortmund has Round of 16 course taken the Champions League. The two young stars started 3-0 (2-0) over Club Brugge with their remarkable goals in the 18th and 45th minutes.

“Today we have taken a great step forward”said BVB’s head of licensed players Sebastian Kehl on DAZN.

With the success in the third consecutive preliminary round BVB consolidated the lead in the standings on Tuesday at the empty stadium in Dortmund and can already reach the knockout round with a draw in the next game against Lazio Roma (2 December).

Haaland improves goal rate the 16 in his only game number 12

Just three days after his four-pack from Berlin, Haaland was back in great shape and improved his with his second goal (60th) impressive goal rate in the premier class on 16 in his only game number 12.

“We played very well and kept zero. If it works, then it works.”Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Bürki said on DAZN.

The great talent Youssoufa Moukoko was on the team four days after his 16th birthday, but was not replaced. Moukoko has been the youngest professional in Bundesliga history since his appearance in a 5-2 win at Hertha BSC last Saturday, but was initially denied another Champions League record.

After the 1: 3 false start in the group stage at Lazio Roma, BVB had achieved a good starting position thanks to successes against Saint Petersburg (2: 0) and in Bruges (3: 0). But as the Belgians had not given up their hopes of the round of 16, they played bravely at least in the opening minutes. That in turn opened up the Borussia halls. After a long pass from Bruges goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, Mats Hummels won the head duel, Sancho cleared Haaland’s fine. The 20-year-old Norwegian hit the near corner with a shot that went from the inside post to the goal.

BVB, who had shifted to five positions from the Bundesliga match at Hertha BSC (5: 2), convinced even without Marco Reus or Julian Brandt, who were only substituted ten minutes before the end, with a quick combination game and he stayed with the rare and in the general. Too harmless counterattacks from the ever-attentive guests.

After half an hour, the Dortmund team was experiencing its strongest and most dangerous phase to date. Visiting defender Simon Deli cleared a cross pass from Thorgan Hazard just before Raphael Guerreiro and Haaland (31st) were ready to shoot. A minute later, Mignolet failed to catch a shot from Manuel Akanji, but Thomas Delaney was blocked. “We didn’t start out so well, but we did well. We have to stay there. We are doing our best to keep the three points on Tuesday, “Akanji had promised before the game, and they did a lot in fact.

Sancho with a magic free kick to 2-0

Giovanni Reyna standing free from 14 meters (41) or Delaney from far (43) gave promising opportunities before Sancho with a magic free kick to 2-0 met. Jude Bellingham, who, along with Delaney, Sancho, Reyna and Hazard, was one of five newcomers to the game in Berlin, had been fouled. And Sancho fired the free kick from about 20 meters in the upper corner of the goal, unsustainable for Mignolet.

Dortmund’s dominance continued after the break. If Sancho had scored from a good position after passing Hazard (48th), this would have been the preliminary decision. Haaland managed to do this after exactly one hour. Bruges captain Ruud Vormer made a poor pass in his own penalty area directly to Haaland, whose offside position was thus annulled. Fresh and collected, the 20-year-old hit the turn to 3-0. BVB coach Lucien Favre used his entire contingent with five substitutions: the sovereign Dortmund’s victory was never in jeopardy.
