A group of 15 to 20 people attacked a group of protesters during the “side thinkers” protests in Leipzig. The LKA suspects a left-wing extremist background. The perpetrators only fled when a police officer fired a warning shot.

northFollowing an attack on participants in the recent Leipzig rally against crown restrictions, the Saxon State Criminal Police Office (LKA) is investigating the attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm against unknown persons. Since a political background cannot be ruled out by the above circumstances, the investigation is being carried out by the “Soko Linx” responsible for left-wing extremism, the LKA announced in Dresden on Tuesday.

According to this, a group of 15 to 20 people is said to have attacked another group on the brink of the confused demonstration on Saturday. A 25-year-old and a 30-year-old fell to the ground and were hit and kicked. An attacker kicked one of the victims several times in the head with his foot.

When police arrived, some of the attackers fled, others continued to attack the man, the LKA said. Apparently he was in a defenseless position, which is why a police officer fired a warning shot. The other attackers also fled. The two victims, who previously claimed to be at Corona’s critics meeting, were taken to hospital and treated on an outpatient basis, according to the LKA.

A rally related to the “lateral thinking” movement had been canceled by the applicant shortly before departure. Hundreds of participants, some of them right-wing extremists, then marched through the city in various groups, and there were also several left-wing counterattacks. The police registered 18 crimes and two arrests.
