Another activist crashes
The situation in the Dannenröder forest is not calming down. A week ago, a climate protection activist fell from several meters into the depths and investigations are underway against a police officer. Now there is another clash. The protesters raise serious charges against the emergency services.
Another activist was injured in a fall during protests by environmental activists in the Dannenröder forest. As announced by the Central Hesse police in Gießen, the woman was seriously injured when she fell from a platform and was taken to a clinic. As it is, there is no danger of death.
According to the police, the woman was probably on a wooden platform that was secured with ropes between several trees at a height of about four to six meters. In the morning, the pallet had been placed in an inclined position “for reasons that are still unknown” and the woman fell to the ground.
Activist officials accused the police of being responsible for the accident. According to eyewitnesses, several policemen stepped on a marked safety rope that eventually broke. Investigations have been launched to clarify the cause of the accident. According to a police spokesman, stones and fireworks were thrown at the emergency services in the afternoon.
Investigations without evidence of intent
Activists have repeatedly accused police of endangering lives during evictions, especially after an activist fell off a frame with his legs high on November 15. According to the Gießen prosecutor, the person responsible for this was a police officer who had previously cut a rope that was connected to the frame.
The connection should not have been visible to the officer. According to the prosecution, he is being investigated on the initial suspicion of bodily injury due to negligence. According to the researchers, there is no evidence of deliberate action.
In the forest near Homberg / Ohm in Vogelsbergkreis, trees are to be felled in an area of 27 hectares for the construction of Autobahn 49, work has been going on for a long time. Proponents hope that the construction of the highway will result in less traffic and noise pollution in the villages and better connections to the road network.
