After the body of an 86-year-old was found in Geraberg (Ilm district), the prosecution assumes that the woman was the victim of a violent crime. “There is a lot to say about a homicide crime,” prosecutor Hannes Grünseisen said when asked on Friday.

The woman’s body was confiscated and taken to forensic medicine for an autopsy. He did not provide further details, such as the type and extent of the possible injuries. Grünseisen confirmed the information from MDR THÜRINGEN that the woman came from Ilmenau and regularly visited his garden in Geraberg.

The deceased was discovered Thursday in a garden in Geraberg, a district of the rural community of Geratal, at the northern end of the Thuringian Forest. Officials from the Gotha State Police Inspectorate and specialists from the State Criminal Police Office launched the investigation at the scene. Police officers were still searching the cordoned garden for clues on Friday.
