This incident in the Braunschweig regional court has consequences for judicial officials: Christian B., a suspect in the Maddie murder case, suffered injuries in the examination cell and had to be treated in hospital.

AAt the Braunschweig Regional Court, there was an incident in the demonstration cell on Monday. Inmate Christian B., who had an appointment with a criminal courtroom in court, was injured in the cell and had to be treated as an outpatient at the hospital. It is not yet clear what exactly happened in the cell.

Apparently, there was a confrontation between Maddie’s murder suspect and the employees. This is indicated by a strong conversation that Kiel’s lawyer Friedrich Fülscher, B.’s defender, had with the court clerk.

According to information from WELT, a court clerk is said to have said in this dispute that the client “was not happy.” It is said that he laughed. Fülscher, in turn, is said to have demanded that “the recordings be erased.” The lawyer did not want to tell WELT what kind of recordings they were.

He filed a criminal complaint for assault on the judiciary, as the Braunschweig prosecutor has now confirmed. Currently the process is in the hands of the police. Various media reported that the 43-year-old should have broken two ribs.

Christian B. is probably one of the most prominent prisoners in the country. The Braunschweig prosecution includes him as a suspect in the murder of Madeleine McCann. In June, the Federal Criminal Police launched a public search on the matter, presented him as the alleged perpetrator and asked for clues.

The Maddie case, love, hate

The main investigating authority, the Braunschweig Public Prosecutor’s Office, has stressed several times that it is certain that it has found the killer of the then three-year-old English girl. The boy disappeared in 2007 from a holiday complex in Praia da Luz in the Algarve in Portugal. B. lived near the crime scene at the time; His cell phone is said to have been searched in a radio cell near the hotel at the time of the crime.

The authority also speaks of more evidence, which they are still withholding. It is still open whether the prosecutor will actually charge Christian B. It is unknown what exactly is against him: the prosecution denied access to the files in order “not to jeopardize the success of the investigation.”

The appointment in Braunschweig was actually superfluous: Christian B., currently in custody for a drug offense in Kiel, wanted to have it verified whether an early release from custody would be an option after two-thirds of the sentence had been served. The non-public hearing in front of the Criminal Execution Chamber took place after the incident. According to a court spokeswoman, it was not yet clear when there would be an outcome. The current prison sentence in Kiel for drug trafficking ends on January 7, 2021.

But even if the chamber accepted this, B. would remain in prison because the Braunschweig Regional Court sentenced him to several years in prison for rape in Portugal in 2019. Christian B. has committed several crimes in the past, including being found guilty of possession of child pornography.

There is an ongoing dispute over the course of events between the British, German and Portuguese investigating authorities. While the English have always assumed a kidnapping and theoretically do not want to rule out that Maddie is still alive, the Braunschweig prosecutor speaks of a “death investigation”.

B. boasted of writing?

The Portuguese, on the other hand, long held the thesis that the parents themselves might have had something to do with their daughter’s disappearance. After that, Madeleine could have died in a bedroom accident. Ultimately, there was and is not enough evidence for any version.

Fülscher also assumes that Maddie is no longer alive. He also thinks he knows that the prosecution has a witness for the accusations against B .: former acquaintance Helge B. This is said to have told police that Christian B. was bragging about the crime. The Public Ministry does not want to provide information on possible statements by Helge B.
