Compared to the Sunday of the previous week, the number of new corona infections is increasing again according to the Robert Koch Institute. The R value is also above a critical level again.
According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), health authorities reported 16,947 new corona infections in Germany on Sunday in one day. That’s 5,514 cases less than the previous day with 22,461 new cases reported within 24 hours. The number of cases registered is usually lower on Sundays, in part because fewer tests are conducted on weekends.
Last Sunday, the number of new infections reported was 16,017. Since the start of the pandemic, the RKI has recorded a total of 790,503 infections. (Status: November 15, 00.00 am)
The number of deaths related to the corona virus increased from 107 to a total of 12,485. According to RKI’s situation report on Saturday night, the so-called seven-day R was 1.05 (previous day: 0.99). This means that, in theory, 100 infected people infect about 100 more people. The value represents the appearance of the infection 8 to 16 days ago. If it is below 1 for a long time, the infection process subsides.
