New York Gets Vaccine Later: Trump Discards US Blockade.

Corona infections in the US are rising at dizzying levels, but the sitting US president has categorically ruled out a shutdown. When it comes to the question of who won the election, Trump remains vague. But when it comes to vaccine distribution, it is clear to him: New York must be patient.

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has only vaguely commented on the result of the elections in his first public statements since announcing his electoral defeat. Trump spoke in the White House rose garden about the crown pandemic and said in a subordinate clause that “the future” will show who will rule the country in the future.

“Ideally, we will not enter a lockdown,” Trump said in light of the growing number of corona cases in the United States. “This government will not enter a blockade. Hopefully, whatever happens in the future, who knows what government it will be, I think the future will tell, but I can tell you that this government will not enter one. Go to the confinement.”

He neither claimed, as before, an electoral victory for himself, nor did he admit defeat against Democrat Joe Biden. So far, Trump has refused to admit defeat in the November 3 presidential election.

US media: Biden wins Georgia

Major US broadcasters had already declared Biden the winner of the election on Saturday. In the evening, broadcasters CNN and ABC also declared the former vice president the winner in the beleaguered state of Georgia. This brings Biden to 306 voters, and he needs 270 to win.

Trump speaks of an alleged electoral fraud without any evidence and accuses the Democrats of trying to “steal” his election. He has now spoken to the press for the first time since the election results were announced. Trump did not respond to journalists’ questions during his appearance, in which he praised his administration’s fight against the corona virus.

Vaccinations in December, New York will have to wait

With a view to the expected emergency approvals for newly developed coronavirus vaccines, the United States government plans to vaccinate around 20 million people starting in December. In January and the following months, between 25 and 30 million each should be vaccinated, said the representative responsible for the government’s vaccination program, Moncef Slaoui, in the rose garden of the White House. As soon as more vaccines are approved, the number could increase significantly, Slaoui said in a joint appearance with Trump.

According to Slaoui, two vaccines could get emergency approval from the Food and Drug Administration in just a few weeks. He referred to the promising results of the vaccine developed by the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer and the German company Biontech.

However, the US state of New York could initially miss the distribution. The vaccine should not initially be delivered to New York state, Trump said at the press conference. Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo does not trust the Washington government and wants to examine the drug separately. “So we won’t send it to New York until we have permission,” Trump said. The current president of the United States indirectly criticized Cuomo for his announcement a few weeks ago that his own experts would verify the safety of an approved vaccine. Cuomo had justified this with concerns that Trump could use a fund for political purposes and prematurely distribute it to the population.
