The German soccer team won the international match against the Czech Republic 1-0 (1-0). Luca Waldschmidt (13th minute) scored the DFB-Elf’s winning goal against empty ranks in Leipzig, which have been undefeated for eleven games. After Corona’s break, it was the second win in the sixth game.

In this test, national coach Joachim Löw used a B team made up of newcomers and largely inexperienced players in the DFB-Elf before the league matches. Since the Czechs also started weakly after numerous crown and quarantine cases, the game was characterized by inaccuracies from two unrehearsed teams in the opening minutes.

Three double chances, half used

In the 13th minute, DFB debutants Ridle Baku and Philipp Max appeared: Baku put the ball first to Florian Neuhaus, whose shot from the edge of the box Jiri Pavlenka was able to stop in the Czechs’ goal. The rebound then carried Max sharply from the left into the six-yard box toward Luca Waldschmidt – 1-0.

The German team then went softer. After half an hour, captain İlkay Gündoğan tried from 16 meters, Baku threw the blocked ball into the goal, but also to goalkeeper Pavlenka. Shortly before the break, the third double chance, this time for Nadiem Amiri, who missed twice against Pavlenka (45th). Rival Kevin Trapp had an easy game with a long shot from Michael Krmencik (23rd) and a header from Jan Kopic (43rd).

The German team also had space and chances after the break, a lack of precision or a bad moment prevented the highest victory despite numerous attempts. In the 77th minute, Neuhaus also fired a long-range shot off the crossbar. Shortly before the end, Löw’s team was lucky that Trapp was there for a touchdown (83rd). For Manuel Neuer’s replacement it was the first victory in the fifth international match.

National coach Löw managed without seven regulars for this event, including captain Neuer, Leon Goretzka and Timo Werner. You won’t be joining the team until Thursday. With the established players, he should enter the Nations League games against Ukraine in Leipzig (Saturday, 8:45 pm) and in Seville against Spain (Tuesday, 8:45 pm).
