This result does not change anything about Biden’s electoral victory: As expected, the president of the United States, Trump, was able to prevail against his Democratic rival in Alaska. Meanwhile, votes in Georgia are counted by hand.

The incumbent Donald Trump has obtained a majority in the state of Alaska in the US presidential elections, according to television stations. This is the result of matching forecasts by broadcasters CNN and NBC based on previous vote counts and voter surveys.

Alaska is considered a safe bastion for Republicans. All three voters from the sparsely populated state in the far northwestern United States already turned to Trump in 2016 with a clear majority. All the polls also saw the Republican in the lead again. However, the result in Alaska cannot change the national electoral victory of Trump’s Democratic challenger Joe Biden: with 279 votes, Biden has already achieved the majority necessary for the December election meeting.

In Georgia, counting is done by hand

Given the narrow gap between Trump’s and Biden’s election results in the state of Georgia, all votes cast there are re-counted by hand. This was announced by the responsible secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger.

However, Georgia was also not decisive for Biden’s electoral victory: the state of Pennsylvania had already raised Democrats above the threshold of the necessary 270 voters. Georgia, with 16 voters, could only cement Biden’s success, or play a role if Trump’s attorneys succeed in overriding the results in other states. However, American legal experts estimate that the chances of this happening are very low.

Georgia Democrats’ first victory since 1992

Biden leads Georgia by 14,111 votes, Raffensperger said. That is many times more than the difference in previous accounts. About five million votes were cast in Georgia. Biden would be the first Democrat since Bill Clinton in 1992 to win a presidential election in Georgia.
