More new infections
RKI reports 261 deaths in one day
While the infection rate in Germany continues to fall, the number of new infections is increasing, according to the Robert Koch Institute. In the morning, the RKI reports more than 18,000 corona cases in one day. Meanwhile, the number of deaths per crown is approaching 12,000.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 18,487 new corona infections in 24 hours. That’s 3,155 more cases than on Tuesday, as the RKI data shows in the morning. Compared to Wednesday of last week, the value is slightly higher. At that time, the number of new infections reported was 17,214. The peak was reached on Saturday with 23,399 registered cases.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the RKI has counted a total of 705,687 infections detected with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany (as of midnight on November 11). The number of deaths related to the virus increased by 261 to a total of 11,767. The last time there was such an increase in the number of people who died in one day was in April. On Tuesday, that increase was 154 deaths. The RKI estimates that around 454,800 people have recovered.
According to RKI’s situation report on Tuesday night, the so-called seven-day R was 0.92 (previous day: 0.98). This means that, in theory, 100 infected people infect another 92 people. The value represents the infection process 8-16 days ago. If it is below 1 for a long time, the infection rate decreases.
