When is the final result of the
United States Election
2020 fixed? In the presidential election, eligible voters in the
United States
decided who should rule the country for the next four years. Cracked Saturday night
Joe biden
the magic limit of 270 voters and has been the winner ever since, even if
Donald trump
wants to take legal action against the result of the elections.

The question remains how clearly Biden will decide the choice. When will the last results arrive?

Final results of the 2020 US elections: When will the results of Alaska, Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina be?

In 2020, a decision had to wait much longer than in previous elections. The first important results, such as those of Vermont or Indiana, occurred at one in the morning from Tuesday to Wednesday, German time. However, the race between Trump and Biden was so close that it was ultimately narrowed down to a few states.

It wasn’t until Saturday, November 7, German time, that Biden’s victory in Pennsylvania made it clear that the Democrat had won the election. Shortly after, electoral leadership was secured in Nevada. Four states still counting: In Arizona and Georgia, it appears that there are more victories for Biden, who would win the election more clearly. In Alaska and North Carolina, however, Trump is ahead. It will likely take until next week for results to be determined in all states.

This is the percentage of votes counted on Sunday morning:

  • Alaska: 56 percent
  • Arizona: 97 percent
  • Georgia: 98 percent
  • North Carolina: 98 percent

But even when all the votes have been counted, the US election is likely not over yet: Trump is taking legal action against mail-in ballots and is demanding recounts in some states; he sees himself cheated by his electoral victory.

By the way, in the past, who will eventually become president of the United States, in clear cases had decided much earlier around 5 am German time. With most late-counted states, including greater California, traditionally falling into the hands of Democrats, stations often dare to make fairly definitive predictions. Barack Obama’s election in 2012 was already secure at 5.15am, Donald Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton four years ago a little later around 8.30am.

As with the general election, election night projections are based on post-election polls. If these “exit polls” reflect a clear trend in the outcome of elections in a state, this will be published as a forecast by the US media. Adjusted results are considered “too close to call” (for example, “no clear majority”) until enough constituencies have been counted.

Election Results Time: When did polling stations close in the US states?

The opening hours of polling stations in the US Presidential elections vary from state to state. Many states open so-called “polling places” at each election in the morning between 6 and 7 am (local time). Polling stations usually close between 7 pm and 9 pm at night.

However, since the US covers six time zones, the polling place closings in 2020 were very different in the respective states. Here is an exemplary overview of the opening and closing times of polling stations according to US and German time:

Time zone State (example) Electoral colleges conclude German time
Oriental (MEZ -6) Florida 8 pm 2 O ‘clock
Central (MEZ -7) Wisconsin 8 pm 3 o’clock
Mountain (MEZ -8) Arizona 19 o’clock 3 o’clock
Pacific (MEZ -9) California 8 pm 5 o’clock
Alaska (MEZ -10) Alaska 21 clock 7:00
Hawai’i /Aleutian Islands (MEZ -11) Hawaii 6 pm 5 o’clock

How will the Presidential election 2020 counted?

The counting of the 2020 US presidential elections began after the closure of polling stations in the respective states. Many votes were cast before actual Election Day – so-called “early voting” is now possible in 36 states and Washington DC without giving reasons.

Votes cast in advance will be counted along with the ballot papers submitted on Election Day. Digital voting machines or special ballots are used in most electoral districts. The latter are also scanned in order to count and digitize.
