The information is sent to the health authorities of the traveler’s destination. Therefore, they should be able to monitor whether someone is complying with the quarantine obligation.
“The digitization of entry records relieves the health authorities,” said Health Minister Jens Spahn (40, CDU).
According to the Ministry of Health and Interior, the data is encrypted and only made available to the responsible health department.
They should be automatically deleted 14 days after entry.
The new digital solution replaces the paper exit card.
“With digital check-in, we are finally done with travel paperwork,” said Interior Minister Horst Seehofer (71, CSU).
