Democratic candidate Joe Biden is catching up in Pennsylvania. According to CNN, the challenger is 49.2 percent and President Donald Trump (Republican) 49.5 percent. If Biden wins Pennsylvania, he would win the presidential election, because the state’s 20 electorates are enough for the decision.
Initially, Trump’s lead in Pennsylvania was around 10 percentage points, but now it’s not even one. The president goes ahead with around 18,000 votes.
Biden’s race to catch up can be explained by vote-by-mail, which is traditionally increasingly used by supporters of Democrats. Trump had repeatedly claimed that the election result could be manipulated by vote-by-mail. However, it did not provide any proof of this. Court rejects Trump’s request
In this context, the president has now suffered a defeat. A United States federal judge in Pennsylvania denied his campaign team’s motion to stop the count. The lawsuit will not be allowed, said Judge Paul Diamond. Trump wanted to force the count to continue only if Republican observers attend. However, following a court order, Republicans now have access to the Philadelphia Electoral College. Trump’s team believes that the observers’ work will be hampered.
The president currently has only 214 of the 270 voters needed for a victory. As it stands, his challenger Joe Biden has at least 253 voters. Adding in the state of Arizona, where some media have already proclaimed Biden the winner, it adds up to 264.
