In Rotenburg, rescue teams rescued a four-year-old boy from the Wümme last night. The prosecution is investigating the girl’s mother.
The 40-year-old woman was charged with killing her son, said a spokesman for the Verden prosecution service in Lower Saxony. The mother took the boy out of the Diakonieklinikum Rotenburg at 11pm yesterday, although he must be treated urgently. It is unknown what exactly the boy was missing. The prosecution hopes to obtain more information from the boy’s autopsy over the weekend.
Mother could come to a mental hospital
The clinic informed the police that night about the disappearance of the mother and son. The first officials discovered the 40-year-old man in Rotenburg. After hours of searching, emergency services removed the lifeless boy from the Wümme. For him, any help came too late. It is not yet clear why the mother disappeared from the clinic with her son. The researchers want the woman to be admitted to a psychiatric clinic. A judge must decide on this during the day.
