reGerman health authorities reported 16,498 new corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in one day. This comes from the RKI information on Wednesday morning. Possibly there could have been another data breach at the institute. “The data is currently being updated. This means that the displayed values and graphs are not correct. We are currently assuming that the data will be fully loaded at 1:00 pm, ”says RKI.
Based on the data currently reported, the dynamics of the increase would diminish a bit: on Wednesday a week ago, the number of new infections reported was 14,964, almost double compared to the previous week.
According to the RKI, a total of 560,379 people in Germany have been infected with Sars-CoV-2 since the start of the pandemic. The number of deaths related to the virus rose from 143 to 10,661 as of Wednesday. The RKI estimates that around 371,500 people have recovered.
R-value goes down
According to RKI’s status report on Tuesday, the number of views, or R-value for short, was 0.94 in Germany (previous day: 1.07). This means that an infected person infects slightly less than another person on average. The R value represents the infection rate approximately one and a half weeks earlier.
In addition, the RKI includes the so-called seven-day R in its management report. The value refers to a longer period of time and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations. According to RKI estimates, this value was 0.98 on Tuesday (previous day: 1.04). It shows the infection process from 8 to 16 days ago.
On Tuesday, Germany recorded a seven-day incidence of 115.91 people per 100,000 inhabitants in 24 hours. Only a few districts in this country have an incidence below 35 or 50. The proportion of corona positive tests has increased significantly over several weeks, which is also due to the fact that more tests were done. See an overview of all crown numbers here.
