The first votes in the US elections have already been counted, in favor of the Democratic presidential candidate, Biden. This is the beginning of an electoral day with historic participation in the United States.

The first votes have already been counted, in the town of Dixville Notch in New Hampshire. Its residents have made it a tradition to vote and count at midnight, like the first in the United States.

It won’t affect the election as only five votes were cast, but Joe Biden might be pleased that everyone went to him. And above all, there was also a seasoned Republican who later admitted on Twitter that he had now voted for the Democrat.

He disagrees with Biden on many things, said Les Otten of Dixville Notch, but thinks it’s time to find out what unites people and not what divides them.

Many vote by postal vote

More than 100 million people have already cast their vote before the first polling stations opened on the East Coast of the United States. That’s more than 70 percent of the votes that were cast four years ago.

63 of these more than 100 million people chose to vote by mail, the remaining 36 million cast their votes personally in “early voting”.

Trump is confident

President Trump officially made his last campaign appearance last night in Michigan. But this morning he continued by phone on Fox News and was very confident that he would win the election.

An incredible amount has changed in the past week, Trump said of opinion polls. He thinks he is doing very well everywhere. In fact, Joe Biden is 10 percentage points ahead of Trump nationwide, but he’s very close in key states like Florida and Pennsylvania.

Final jet on both sides

Democrats are also using Election Day to motivate the last of the swing voters. Joe Biden is back in Pennsylvania, he’s from Scranton.

Gretchen Whitmer, the governor of Michigan, advises her compatriots to look for the onion in the tails: “Put on several layers,” she told CNN. “The weather can change quickly here in Michigan, although it’s supposed to be hot today.”

Michigan, in the northeastern United States, was won by Donald Trump four years ago. Joe Biden now leads the polls. Gretchen Whitmer, Democrat, creates an optimistic frame of mind in her state. This historic participation is really a sign that people are ready for change, Whitmer said.

The last polling stations will close after midnight in Alaska, a state that can be trusted to vote Republicans.

Joe Biden will be awaiting the outcome of the election with his family and possible Vice President Kamala Harris at his home in Delaware on the East Coast. President Trump and his family are in the White House.
