Following the assassination of French teacher Paty, President Emmanuel Macron clearly defended freedom of expression. Since then it has been the target of Muslim protests around the world. In Berlin there is a show in bad taste. A man wearing a Macron mask is publicly humiliated.

Apparently there have been anti-French protests in the Berlin district of Neukölln. A video shows how a man wearing a mask for French President Emmanuel Macron is led on a rope by a man in a white robe through the busy Sonnenallee shopping street and humiliated.

As the “Tagesspiegel” reports, the man insults the person disguised as Macron in Arabic as “vermin” and “dog”. In one hand he carries a black belt that is supposed to serve as a whip. The two are accompanied by a group of about 20 people. A Berlin police spokesman said the police were unaware of the incident on Saturday.

After the beheading of his teacher Samuel Paty by an Islamist in France, French head of state Emmanuel Macron defended freedom of expression and the publication of cartoons critical of religion. Macron had said at a memorial service honoring Paty that France would not “do without cartoons and drawings, even if others withdraw from them.” The teacher had shown cartoons of Muhammad in class as an example of freedom of expression. Macron’s comments sparked protests from Muslims around the world.
