FC Bayern also won the second match of the group stage of the new Champions League season. At 2: 1 (1: 0) the match was open for a long time after an early goal from Leon Goretzka (13th minute). Anton Miranchuk tied for Lok Moscow (70th), before Joshua Kimmich decided the match with a remarkable goal (79th).

Following last week’s resounding 4-0 win over Atlético de Madrid and away win in Moscow, Bayern lead Group A ahead of Atlético. Throughout the seasons, the defending champion has won 13 games. The Russian runner-up played 2-2 at FC Salzburg early on.

The starting position clearly spoke of the defending champion from Munich. Only three minutes were played when Moscow’s most successful scorer, Fedor Smolov, headed in after a cross from the left. However, his qualification was too central and therefore no problem for Manuel Neuer.

Bayern picked up the pace against the deeply formed home team, who didn’t even play with attacking pressure. Robert Lewandowski missed from a corner kick, the first goal fell shortly after on a successful offensive combination: Corentin Tolisso cleared right-back Benjamin Pavard with a leading diagonal from the center. The Frenchman took her directly to the penalty area, where Goretzka hit his head (13th).

Ten minutes later it was the same Munich play that Kingsley Coman couldn’t use in the middle. His shot attempt bounced off the left post. Hansi Flick had the same starting eleven as against Atlético, but Bayern played less dominant than the previous week. Moscow was not rewarded for a compromised first half, shortly before the break, Smolov’s graduation missed the door on the left (42).

Stolen penalty – behind Laissez-faire

For the third time, it was the typical Munich play that almost led to a goal: Serge Gnabry directed the ball diagonally from Lucas Hernández from far right to Kimmich in the middle (57). But he also missed from very close, defender Slobodan Rajkovic blocked decisively.

In the 63rd minute, Lewandowski was unfairly stopped and received a penalty. The video referee intervened because Lewandowski had previously been sidelined. Coman missed a good chance after a double with Kimmich in the 69th minute. The home team, encouraged by some 6,000 spectators, tried again and finally rewarded themselves: after a flat cross, it was Anton Miranchuk who pushed the ball into goal passing Neuer (70º).

Lok Moscow tried to counter Munich’s high level, but Kimmich had other plans: the defensive midfielder accepted a pass from substitute Javi Martínez 20 meters from goal and fired from the corner exactly to the left angle.
