Is the first lady of the United States, Melania Trump, using a body double to avoid public appearances? Under the hashtag #FakeMelania, some Twitter users are heating up the rumor mill. These are photographs that show the president of the United States and his wife getting into a helicopter in Washington last Thursday. The presidential couple addressed a television campaign debate that day in Nashville, Tennessee. In the photos, Melania Trump laughs at the camera next to her husband.
But some Twitter users now claim that Donald Trump has hired a press stuntman. They explained their distrust, among other things, with the fact that Melania Trump laughs a lot more than usual in the photos. The first lady is usually known for her serious expression. Many of the users also pointed out that the woman’s teeth would look completely different in the pictures. His nose is also much more pointed.
Has it been another incumbent president in the TV age who has been so brash as to use a First Lady double body in the election campaign? I do not think so. Up there with my favorite conspiracy theories. The evidence is well … compelling.

Many Internet commenters were also outraged by the president’s alleged “audacity” to shamelessly bend in front of their faces. Republicans would need the First Lady’s presence at campaign rallies to do justice to the image of the good first lady, one observer rhymed. Therefore, a doppelganger must travel with the president. Other Twitter users poked fun at photo montages that the photos clearly showed a body double.
Melania Trump stays mostly in the background
There have been rumors in the past that the first lady hired a doppelganger to perform. In 2017, a video of an official speech by the president went viral causing many people to doubt whether he was actually introducing the first lady. There is also much speculation about the marriage: for Donald Trump it is the third. They are fueled by innocent reports of separate rooms, but also serious allegations of alleged affairs and sexual assaults by Donald Trump before he moved into the White House.
Trump has vehemently denied reporting on it so far. Most recently, last year, he accused the media of tampering with photos of his wife’s appearances. “The fake news took photos of Melania photoshopped and then spread conspiracy theories that she is not by my side in Alabama and elsewhere. They get more and more confused over time!” Trump wrote on Twitter at the time.

In the election campaign, however, the First Lady appeared much less frequently than other members of the Trump family who are working hard to get the president re-elected.
Just two weeks before the election, he canceled his appearance in a Donald Trump appearance on short notice, a precautionary measure due to the cough, as his spokesman said.
