Joe Biden is 77 years old. When Stern-Correspondent Jan Christoph Wiechmann saw the Democratic presidential candidate a few months ago for the first time in years, was shocked by his appearance. Then he took a closer look at Biden.

Joe Biden is an old man. If the Democratic Party presidential candidate wins the election against incumbent Donald Trump on November 3, he would be 78 when he took office, making him the oldest president in US history. Only three men in the White House were over 70 in their reign: Dwight D. Eisenhower (1953-1961) was 70 years and four months old when he left office, Ronald Reagan (1981-1989) was 77 years old. Donald Trump is 74 years old at the end of his first term.

Trump regularly pokes fun at Biden’s age during the election campaign. As “Sleepy Joe,” he taunts him, accuses the former vice president of physical and mental lack of fitness, and publicly doubts Biden is up to the presidency.
