Tighter crown rules have been applied in Hamburg from today. Now a maximum of 10 people from two households is allowed to meet, either at home or away.
Initially, until the end of November, only up to ten people from a maximum of two households can meet. This applies at home, in public places, such as restaurants or the movies, and outdoors. The Senate has already given it known on Friday and today this rule comes into force. In the first phase of the pandemic, such a restriction had already been shown to interrupt the chains of infection, said Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD).
The only exceptions are for mixed families and children under the age of twelve, he said. Therefore, games together or a children’s birthday party are possible at home, but according to the Senate, a maximum of ten, for example, with up to nine children under the age of twelve from up to nine different households and one adult. This does not affect the existing requirements for events with fixed seats, such as in cinemas and cultural institutions. The previous rules for the sport remain in effect.
Tschentscher: The penalties for breaking the rules are correct
In view of the sharp increase in the number of corona infections, Tschentscher called again today to strictly follow the applicable corona rules. Politicians have taken important measures such as the introduction of a curfew in restaurants, said the SPD politician in ARD morning magazine. Now everyone should stick with it. Tschentscher considers that sanctions are appropriate in case of violations of the rules. “We also have restaurateurs who organize parties with almost 100 people in the basement, during curfew,” he said. That is “very, very irresponsible” and puts the overall success of the strategy at risk.

“We have to flatten the curve,” said Second Mayor Katharina Fegebank (Greens). But we cannot let things go and we will not let them go.”
Interior Senator Andy Grote (SPD) announced checks and fines for violations on Friday, but said nothing about the amount of the fines. In addition, the ban on serving alcohol in the early morning will be extended. After curfew, which runs from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., alcohol is not sold until 10 a.m.
