After Poland was classified as a corona risk area, the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Ministry of Health exempted travelers, schoolchildren and students from the quarantine obligation.

Starting Saturday, the federal government will classify Poland as a corona risk area. Those returning from the neighboring country must be quarantined for 14 days. The Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Ministry of Health issued exceptions for travelers, schoolchildren and students on Friday evening under certain conditions. They should not show any corona symptoms, declare to the employer or training center daily that they are healthy, and get tested once a week. Employers or training centers must certify that it is necessary to appear on site. Those who visit first-degree relatives or have to attend an urgent medical appointment can even travel without restrictions. The Vorpommern-Greifswald district has already implemented the ministry’s requirements. Around 7,000 people live in the Szczecin metropolitan area and commute to Germany daily or weekly for work, most of them to West Pomerania.

Allowance for accommodation and meals

Like in the spring, when Poland closed its borders due to the crown, the state government wants to help Polish travelers out of the country. Travelers from the neighboring country should once again receive 65 euros a day as a subsidy for accommodation and meals, according to the parliamentary secretary of state for West Pomerania, Patrick Dahlemann (SPD). This is intended to motivate travelers to stay in Germany on their weekends off. Family members must receive 20 euros per day.

Application documents on the web

Companies can apply for grants for their Polish employees, so that they get some relief from accommodation and meals. The corresponding application documents would be published on Friday on the website of the State Office of Health and Social Affairs (LaGuS), to which applications were also to be submitted. Poland had recently reported more than 12,000 new infections in 24 hours.
