The Hamburg Senate will once again tighten the crown’s rules today. The main thing is the size of the private celebrations, and the Winter Cathedral will probably be canceled as well. NDR.de will broadcast the press conference from 2.30 pm via live broadcast.

Social Senator Melanie Leonhard (SPD) announced Thursday night in the Hamburg Journal that the number of people who will be allowed to gather for private parties in their own living space will be limited. “It is clear what awaits us,” he said. For celebrations in private rooms, a maximum of ten people from a maximum of two households must be allowed to gather. In Hamburg there are currently a maximum of 25 people in public spaces and 15 in private spaces. It doesn’t matter how many households they come from.

Incidence now also over 50 according to the RKI

With 360 new corona infections in one day, there was a new record on Friday in Hamburg. The Robert Koch Institute also states that the seven-day value of new infections per 100,000 residents is now over 50. As a result, it rose to 52.8 on Friday. According to the Hamburg health authority, on Friday it was 75.1. The Hamburg Senate apparently wants to stick to its line except for the new restrictions on private celebrations – it wants to wait until next week to see if the stricter rules introduced last weekend are effective.

Wednesday a new government statement

The mayor then wants to inform MPs next Wednesday: According to information from NDR 90.3, Peter Tschentscher (SPD) is planning his third government statement on the current situation of the crown. Then it will probably show whether the Senate can stay its course.

Daycare centers and schools must remain open

Nurseries and schools will remain open. This is what Tschentscher said Thursday in Maybritt Illner in ZDF and Leonhard in the Hamburg Journal. “Nothing should be taken off the table in such a phase of the pandemic,” Leonhard said. However, “there is hardly any infection in kindergartens and very little in schools.” For now, the closures wouldn’t change the dynamics there.

Find space for a vaccination center

At the same time, preparations for possible corona vaccines have started next spring. The vaccine does not exist yet, but according to information from NDR 90.3, the city is already looking for suitable rooms for the largest possible vaccination center.

More soldiers should help

The district’s health authorities will receive more support: as of Monday, 84 soldiers will help in the follow-up of the crown contacts, which is another 18 more than this week. There have been good experiences with the Corona warning application: last week, according to social authorities, 184 people were tested in the test center of the main train station because they had been warned by the application; the result was positive in seven cases.
