On Wednesday night, a fire broke out in the previously occupied house at Liebigstrasse 34. The fire department was alerted around 9 pm Approximately 30 personnel came out to put out the flames.

According to a fire department spokesperson, around 50 cubic meters of garbage in front of the building caught fire. The flames had not spread to the house, as was initially assumed.

The fire was largely extinguished, the spokesperson told Tagesspiegel around 10 p.m. Emergency services moved to different floors of the house to find people in need or possible fire nests. Except for the security guard, who was posted nearby, to the current state of knowledge, there were no people in the building. No one was injured.

At night, it was unclear how long the mission would last. Since there is a lot of debris in the house, it is not easy for emergency services to move around the floors.

Images from observers show how the fire was extinguished. The bulky trash that had been removed from the house in recent days had apparently been stored in front of the building. As the Berliner Morgenpost reports, the police are taking on arson. Several masked people were seen in the home before the fire. At night this information was not yet confirmed. Also, 50 to 70 people should have gathered at the site.
