About two weeks before the US presidential election, more voters than ever took the opportunity to vote early. For candidates Trump and Biden, the election campaign is entering the final phase.
Although the election of the president of the United States will not take place until November 3, more citizens than ever have exercised their right to vote before Election Day. According to a University of Florida ballot project, about 27.7 million US voters have so far cast their ballots by mail or in person.
“We have to keep up the incredible momentum, we can’t stop,” Democratic challenger Joe Biden said Sunday at a drive-in campaign presentation in North Carolina. The participants in their cars honked in agreement. “Don’t wait, vote today,” Biden asked his followers.
Biden criticizes Trump’s crown course
During his campaign appearance, Biden repeatedly criticized incumbent Trump for dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. Against Trump’s claim over the weekend that the United States was “over the mountain,” Biden said the number of new cases was at its highest in months. “As my grandfather would say, ‘This guy doesn’t have all the cups in his closet if he thinks we’re on top,'” Biden said. “He’s getting worse and he keeps lying to us about the situation.”
US President Donald Trump had defended his resistance to the advice of scientists on the corona pandemic over the weekend. “If he had fully listened to the scientists, we would now have a country that would be in a massive depression,” Trump said during a campaign appearance in Carson City, Nevada, on Sunday. “Instead, we are like a rocket.” Trump accused Biden of wanting to impose an “unscientific lockdown” to contain the coronavirus if elected.

Before campaigning, Trump attended a church service and fundraiser with thousands of supporters side by side cheering for Trump and booing Biden and the press. Most of the visitors did not wear a mask, although the number of coronavirus cases in the United States continues to rise.
The pandemic is still out of control in the United States. More than 8.1 million infections have been detected since the beginning and almost 220,000 people died after being infected. There is currently an upward trend in the number of new corona infections per day. Regardless, Trump called on states to fully open on Sunday.
