Fatal accident on the L21 near Oranienburg with hit and run – BZ Berlin

On Saturday night, a cyclist was hit by a jeep on the L21 road in the Oberhavel district. The cyclist died from his injuries at the scene of the accident. However, it is unclear who was behind the wheel.

According to previous information, the driver of a jeep was traveling around 6:40 p.m. near Wensickendorf on the L21 at excessive speed when the accident occurred.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee continued on its way but was found stopped on the B273 as part of search measures, said Kathleen Haase of the Brandenburg Police in BILD. The witnesses had called the attention of the officers to the vehicle.

The accident witnesses had informed the police about the vehicle and where it had gone.

“There were two people in the vehicle, they were both drunk,” he said. Blood samples were taken and the car was impounded.

According to the information, the cyclist succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident. The lifeguards had taken care of the man. An emergency physician immediately alerted that there was nothing he could do for the 55-year-old man.

According to police spokeswoman Haase, it is not yet clear who was driving the vehicle. Both men were arrested because there was a risk of flight, which shows that they were removed from the scene of the accident.

The road was closed for about three hours to record the course of the accident.
